About 23 Riverhouse

Our Riverhouse on John Anderson Drive is recently renovated as a casual fishing and boating retreat on the Halifax River (Intracoastal River). The Halifax River and Intracoastal Waterway is the inside passage for boats of all sizes traveling along the east coast of Florida. Located in the beachside town of Ormond By the Sea and convenient to the hustle and bustle of Daytona Beach a short drive to the south. The house accommodates 6-8 people comfortably. Almost all rooms overlook the river and offer an unobstructed view of the passing watercraft of every size. Barges, yachts, sailboats, motorboats, canoes and kayaks pass within feet of the seawall. Manatee and dolphin pass under the dock and if bird watching is your interest you will enjoy watching the waterfowl, terns, owls and osprey flying overhead and nesting on the nearby islands.

The house is located on John Anderson Drive - named for one of the original settlers of the area. Most weekends you will find many bicyclists passing in front of the house riding "the loop", the picturesque John Anderson Drive, through Cobb's Corner, then circling around the west side of the river and back across the Ormond Bridge, where many weekend activities take place at Rockefeller Gardens and the Fortunato Park.

The house is ideal for a family or 3-4 couples. When you walk in the front door you will immediately see the outstanding view of the water. The greatroom is comfortable and spacious and includes a fireplace and TV. The kitchen is modern and clean with a refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave stove and oven. There is a washer and dryer in the attached garage. There is an eat in kitchen set overlooking the river and the second best place to enjoy breakfast, the first being on the outside patio and dock!! The kitchen is stocked with some staple items and PUBLIX supermarket is within 2 miles. All our guests comment on the fun of waving to the boats as they enjoy their morning coffee.

The spacious master bedroom on the second floor has a breathtaking view of the river. The room boasts 140 sq. ft of window overlooking the riverfront. The second floor location gives you a great view of the islands and the entrance to Tomoka State Park. The bathroom is modern and includes a large tub and separate shower with private toilet. The room has separate thermostat for your comfort and is well appointed with tasteful furnishings, TV and seating area. You will awake to boats passing so close you may forget you are on land and not in a boat yourself!

The second upstairs bedroom is also spacious and nicely appointed and has a Queen bed and private bath. The bedroom overlooks the river and is private from the master bedroom location.
The third bedroom is located downstairs also with a river view and contains a king bed and private bathroom. There is an additional bedroom/den downstairs and has a futon bed for additional sleeping space.

The house is equipped with beach chairs, coolers, and beach umbrellas. Bicycles are also available. If spending a day at the beach is in your plans, we suggest packing a cooler and making the short walk or ride to the beach. The beach in Ormond By The Sea is quieter then the beaches to the south and we think prettier!! The dunes are natural and the beach less crowded. You can walk for miles in either direction, search for shells, frolic in the waves, watch the sandpipers, seagulls and pelicans, build a sandcastle, cast a surf rod and maybe even catch your dinner. Fresh fish on the dock will certainly be tasty, (propane grill provided)! The beach changes daily and early morning walks will bring many discoveries, you never know the treasure you may find.

The house has a two car garage for car or motorcycle storage out of the weather. For motorcycle enthusiast, there are many great rides close by including the Ormond Loop, Cobb's Corner, Matanzas Inlet to Ponce Inlet, Main Street, and the legendary Boothill Saloon, to name a few. The Daytona International Speedway and Museum is within 10 miles from the house and close to some of the off-site parking areas for Nascar events.

Orlando area attractions are approximately one hour drive as well as Kennedy Space Center. Ponce Inlet is on the south end and offers many deep-sea fishing boats for daily charter. The Ponce Inlet Lighthouse is a fun visit and great seafood restaurants are nearby. A visit to St. Augustine is only 45 minutes to the north and getting there is half the fun as you drive along the beachside on A1A. You will pass Flagler Beach, Palm Coast, Matanzas Inlet and Marineland, again with lots of choices in restaurants and local shops.

No vacation is complete with out a deep sea fishing trip or a visit to Cape Canaveral about an hour away by car.

YOUR PIECE OF PARADISE IS WAITING FOR YOU.
